BETTY BELTS Supports our Sistahs!

My Jewelry sponsor Betty Belts sent to me a box full these two lovely Betty Belts styles below to distribute to the ladies at the LB2CAT 2009 PWC Offshore Endurance Championships! July 12th at the Awards ceremony I walked around the tables and handed out select colors, and sizes for the women to choose from.

It was a unanimous split whether the women in attendance preferred the Betty Belt or the Betty necklace, so nobody was disappointed in their preference!

I was the only female competing in the LB2CAT National Endurance Championship race. The men often take center stage and podium, while the 'trophy wives and daughters' become the cheering section.

Many of my sistahs were shocked to be given such a fantastic gift! It is not something they are used to, and Betty Belts really threw down for us!

Usually this race is all about the men and their accolades. I was very honored to be supporting Betty Belts at this special race which I love so much and represent my personal choice sponsor!

Betty Belts Chosen as one of 50 Finalists for 25K Intuit Small Business United Grant

Ventura-based Betty Belts was among over 1900 entrants who submitted their stories in the Intuit Small Business United contest and is one of the 50 finalists winning $5000 each and an opportunity to compete for additional 25K and 10K grants.

The final phase of the contest requires a video submission from each finalist which will be posted on the intuit website from May 18th-31st. Viewers can rate their favorite videos in one each of three categories INSPIRING, FUNNY and USEFUL. Winners will be announced June 4th.

Betty Belts Owner/Designer Donna von Hoesslin is hopeful that her video will garner enough votes to qualify her for one of the larger grants. She made sure the video would be inspirational and fun, telling the story of how surfing became a passion that inspired her to start the company after a very different life in Berlin, Germany. We will even get to hear her sing!

BETTY BELTS is a finalist in the INTUIT Small Business United Contest

Dear Friends and Family,

I have some fabulous news!

My little company Betty Belts won from among over 1900 entries as a
finalist in the INTUIT Small Business United Contest and so far won 5K
for the business!

Thank you to those of you who voted for my story, each of you made a
difference!

I am currently working with David on the video I need to submit to
enter among 50 finalists to win a 25K grant or one of four 10K
grants. David blows me away with his talent and this is going to be a
lot of fun to watch.

The video will be posted on the 18th and the voting begins. I will be
sending out another note then asking all of you to please come vote
for my video. You'll each get three votes, one in each category
INSPIRING USEFUL and FUNNY and I would love it if you see fit to give
my video all three. Yes, you will need to give Intuit your address and
create a username/password, but I promise, it is very brief (and so
worth it to help me win 25K!)

If anyone has their own sources for reaching out to a broader network
to help get votes for one of our own to win, I would be thrilled. I
really need this grant to create a broader reach (via trade shows and
events I haven't been able to afford) and continue to make a
difference in many people's lives.

This hangs so well off the hips! Ask me how I know?
This Betty Belt is solid, and the star pattern from the cowry shells is so thoughtful, reminds me of a four leaf clover and wishing good luck! The large stones of turquoise colored ovals are embedded against a rich tapestry of ochre beading. I love this, it is so attractive, I will wear this often!

OMG!

How could you not like this? I love the movement of the ties, when you walk, they move with you and its a very sensual feel. The colors of the shells flash and catch to release light, its really ethereal! And you can mix this with so many color combinations!

Reminds me of leaves, the Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman, I love nature and symolism so this emobies the Earth to the Ocean for me, but that's my feel...

These are classics! They never have a timeline to them, they are forever! I like this color because it will contrast well against my skin color and I can switch them out with other Betty Belts colored glass beading, so the mix is something that always makes something new for my wardrobe.

My 3 favorite ocean symbols from Betty Belts!

Look at the detail in the hooks! Amazing, and a beautiful rich color, when I wear these they are always warm against my skin and I feel an affinity for the symoblism. I love the ocean and the spirited and intuitive feel I run on when using that energy to my benefit and others.

Notice the Cowry shell in the center?
I love the print, its tribal, but a natural hatch, with a beveled trim. Also unisex, could go for my boyfriend or for myself and a nice casual yet warm touch, very attractive. I get a lot of compliments from these pieces and its hard not to gift them away!

The wooden carved hooks are eternal!
They really are special. I had one and gave it to Duane De Soto's son, because when he saw mine I was wearing, I felt it no longer belonged to me, but to him, and so it is.

Also unisex I like that transitional change, could put this on my boyfriend or I coudl wear it, nice and powerful, but strong.

These beaded jewels come in many different color combinations. I really like the orange and black colors for the type of clothing I wear. The leather bracelet is unisex, I really appreciate its comfortable feel on my wrist, I am thinking about wearing one on both hands because I like the strength, yet the simplicity of the design.

The bracelets can be layered with opposing or complimentary colors.
